In-Service Staff Trainings

With the increasing awareness in our society of the need, for young and old alike, to learn safety and self-protection skills, there is a tremendous interest on the part of many academic institutions and community groups to find safe, effective, and appropriate ways to incorporate the teaching of these skills into their ongoing curriculum.

Professionals that can benefit from this training include:

  • Educators and teachers for children of all ages
  • Pedagogical councillors
  • Social workers and community workers
  • Group home staff and supervisors
  • Camp and youth group staff and volunteers
  • Physical therapists
  • Volunteers and professionals in domestic violence or homeless shelters
  • Professionals or volunteers working with special needs groups

OUR FOCUS

KIDPOWER International™ has developed a comprehensive approach and illustrated Teaching Kits specific to different age groups, which enable professionals to present and teach to students skills to help resolve conflict, manage invasive behaviour and, prevent or counter bullying, assault, abduction, and abuse, as well as teach escape skills.

Our training allows professionals to learn how to present and practice the above-mentioned skills with clear, non-fear based language, in a upbeat fashion. The exercises and examples used are designed to be fun all the while being tangible and concrete in their methodology.

CONTENT

In-service staff training are available to professionals working with groups of all ages and abilities. We invite you to read our direct services sections to learn more about the skills for the age group or groups you are looking for, which are : families, adults & seniors, special needs.

TRAINING OPTIONS

Workshops can be given with the aim of awareness-building or they can be more in-depth. Length can vary between 3 hours to 18 hours depending on the level of proficiency and autonomy in safety instruction sought after by the organization in question.

To create a truly proficient staff in People Safety Skills, this kind of training should be part of a school-wide project where the organization, daycare or school is commmitted to creating a culture of caring, respect and safety for all.

In these cases, we recommend that in-service staff training includes group training as well as individual coaching sessions for staff, follow-up support and consultation for staff and management. This enables the school or organization in question to integrate the KIDPOWER™ program, contents and methodology in their regular activities or educational curriculum.

We can help you realistically analyze your needs and suggest formats that will work for your setting and goals. Please contact us for more information on needs analysis appointments and service proposals.
